Even though our kids still have a couple more weeks of school, things are starting to feel very summery around here – eating fresh berries everyday, visiting the beach near our house, the sun rising early in the morning.
I’m a little nervous about how I’m going to balance it all this summer when the kids are home, but given how the past few months have been with my brain bleed and subsequent Crohn’s flare, I’m planning to take it all in stride and not stress out about it.
Going into summer with the intention to slow down has shifted my mindset. We already have a pretty busy summer planned with a few weekend trips, summer camps, and a trip home to visit family over the Fourth Of July. I want to savor that precious time with my kids. I feel SO lucky to have the flexibility of my job and the fact that I can basically work when I want to. Don’t worry, I still have tons of summer content planned since I really enjoy what I do and find it very fulfilling.
STYLE
Here’s a roundup of outfits I wore last week. I love this time of year when the weather is warm but cool enough to wear tanks and pants or shorts with long sleeves. I’ve linked these looks below. You can find all my Daily Looks here.

OUTFIT TWO // Black Blazer + Tan Jeans
OUTFIT THREE // Green Tank + Black Trousers
OUTFIT FOUR // Black Maxi Dress + Sandals
OUTFIT FIVE // Striped T-Shirt Dress + Sandals
OUTFIT SIX // Gray Cardigan + White Shorts
OUTFIT SEVEN // Brown Bodysuit + Black Pants
ENTERTAINMENT
I’m so into Ted Lasso right now. We are halfway through season two, and it’s such a warm hearted feel good show for summer.
I starting listening to the Good Inside podcast by Dr. Becky. I read her book a few months ago and found it so helpful. Her most recent episode on traveling with kids is very timely with all the summer travel plans we have coming up.
If you have kids, we recently started reading the first book in the Perseus Jackson and The Olympians series with the kids at bedtime, and we all are really enjoying it!
FOOD
I mentioned last week that I’m following a more paleo style diet due to a recent flare-up of my Crohn’s. Although I miss my croissants terribly, I have been really enjoying cooking my way through a new cookbook, Healthy In A Hurry by Danielle Walker. I made the following recipes this week, and all were enjoyed by the family, especially the desserts.
Lemon Chic Pudding With Berries And Toasted Coconut
Skirt Steak Tacos With Sriracha Aioli
Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Skillet Queso Dip (I used this on my nachos!)
Coconut Crusted Shrimp With Broiled Pineapple Mint Salad
Pineapple Whip
Roasted Tomato And Pesto Penne
Chocolate Coffee Mac Nut Cookie Pie (we left out the coffee and served ours with coconut ice cream!)
I have more recipes planned from her cookbook this week as well.
