Summer is officially kicking off next week for our family. Along with a few low key summer travel plans, my main goal for the summer is to kick back, take things slow, and enjoy the beautiful sunny weather here in Seattle. So while I like to sit down at the beginning of the season and make a ‘bucket list’ of sorts, these are just mostly some rough ideas and not a list I plan to ‘check off.’ It’s a low pressure summer idea list that I can refer to when we are looking for something to fill our time. As I’ve gotten older, I have really come to think of the summer months as a time for relaxation and slowing down, for enjoying the little moments, and letting my kids be bored and run wild in the backyard for hours at a time. Cheers to the sweet, slow, summertime life!
Summer Bucket List

Go camping.
One of the reasons we moved to Seattle was to experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. We have two camping trips planned for this summer in Washington (campsites here book up months in advance) with hopes of squeezing in at least one more.
Go to a Mariner’s game.
This was an activity on my spring bucket list that didn’t happen due to unforeseen circumstances, and I’m really set on attending a baseball game this year.

Learn to make mocktails.
For health reasons, I no longer drink alcohol regularly. In fact, I haven’t had a sip in about three months, and prior to that it was quite rare. Over the past year, I’ve been shifting to nonalcholic options when the craving for a cold beverage hits. I feel better, and I sleep better without it. I do love sipping a fun drink on the patio in the summer months so I plan to try a few mocktail recipes.
Go blueberry picking.
This is a summertime activity we do every year. It’s easy for the kids to do, and we usually get at least five pounds, half of which we eat right away and half of which we put into the freezer for smoothies and pancakes.

Day trip to an island.
There are so many little islands around Seattle that you can ride the ferry to and spend the day there. We have Vashon, Whidbey, Bainbridge, or even up to Victoria, B.C. Riding the ferry is a such a Pacific Northwest thing, and I LOVE it.
Ride the train.
The scenic Amtrak Cascades route runs from Vancouver, B.C. through Eugene, Oregon with stops in Seattle and Portland. We haven’t decided the specifics, but we definitely want to do a little weekend trip by train.

Go glamping.
My daughter requested a glamping trip this summer either staying in a yurt, cabin, or elevated glamping tent. It’s the perfect mix of outdoorsy with some nicer amenities, too.
Attend a summer festival.
Our little city within a city (West Seattle) has a fun summer festival in July with games and activities for the kids which we attended last year and have plans to attend this year as well.
Go to the ice cream shop.
Summer wouldn’t be summer without several trips to the ice cream shop. Our neighborhood is getting a new location of the iconic Seattle ice cream shop, Molly Moon’s, which we are VERY excited about.

Visit the zoo.
This is a summer must do activity for my animal loving kids. They can (and do!) spend hours and hours visiting every creature at the zoo.
Learn to SUP.
Learning to stand-up paddleboard has been on my Seattle wishlist since we moved here last summer. I plan to take a class through REI.
